Commercial Acoustics was contracted by DPR Construction to install acoustic treatment at BNY Mellon located in Lake Mary, FL. This included several kinds of acoustical ceiling treatment: tile, baffles, panels, and clouds. These products were placed throughout the building in conference rooms, dining areas, and office spaces. We opted in to using products designed by J2 to maintain aesthetics while bringing noise to a minimum, further improving the noise levels in areas where employees may co-exist.
J2 engraved wall panels were installed in the conference rooms to decrease noise transfers between neighboring rooms. They are made of a recycled polyester felt material which works effectively for sound absorption. By installing this product on the walls, it decreases the amount of echo that comes through on teleconferences, allowing better speech clarity during virtual meetings.
Our team successfully completed the installation of 155 acoustic ceiling baffles and clouds throughout BNY Mellon’s shared office space, conference rooms, and main lobby. These sound-absorbing elements were strategically placed to address acoustic challenges in high-traffic, high-occupancy areas where conversations, phone calls, and background noise can easily build up. We selected J2 baffles and clouds in a coordinated color palette of navy blue, beige, and gray to create a clean, cohesive aesthetic that blends seamlessly with the existing interior design while adding a modern architectural element.

The baffles and clouds were suspended vertically and hang perpendicular to the ceiling to maximize surface exposure for optimal sound absorption. Each product is constructed from 1.5″ thick recycled polyester, a sustainable material known for its durability and acoustic performance. With a Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC) of 1.2, these panels absorb up to 120% of the sound energy that hits them—an indication of their exceptional effectiveness in controlling reverberation and minimizing echo.
Spanning nearly 2,000 square feet of ceiling coverage, this acoustic treatment significantly enhances the auditory environment by reducing ambient noise and improving speech clarity across multiple rooms. The result is a more acoustically comfortable and productive space for employees and visitors alike. BNY Mellon can now enjoy a noticeable improvement in overall sound quality, contributing to a more pleasant and efficient workplace experience.
The installation of these products adds a sleek and modern touch to the many areas in the BNY Mellon office, while also providing incredible acoustics. We anticipate that employees will be in favor of the transformed environment with the reduction of echo and reverb. Thank you to our team for their hard work! Please contact us if your open office space is in need of specialty acoustic treatment.
